IP address

But of course I was limited on what I could do when I needed the IP address, 
since I was doing a network install, and did not have Linux installed yet.
Perhaps the root command would have helped at that point, but I don't know.

  One way to get ip address is to send mail to    oneself or mailing list
and examine headers, specially last Received:-line. This will tell ip
address off your computer. Your message revealed ip address 24.116.252.4
(24-116-252-4.cpe.cableone.net).
