I did something stupid now there is no speech

That's obvious if speakup is speaking.  However, what I finally got 
talking was the old kernel-image-2.4.24-1-speakup and not the 
2.4.26-1-speakup.  So what I need to know is how to make the 
kernel-image-2.4.26-speakup talk at bootup.

cat /proc/speakup/version
