linux pda for the blind

The price tag on the pac mate is why, I believe, that so many think it would
be nice to have something like SpeakUp running on an off the shelf P D A.
Me included.

Well, it's not a Linux PDA, but Sight & Sound are selling a modified
IPAQ running Jaws. They have removed the screen completely, and
packaged the whole thing inside a plastic case with qwerty keyboard.
The case also takes a braille display. Jaws has been modified specially
for the IPAQ to get around the lack of keyboard shotcuts on PocketPC.
The product is called a Pacmate I think.

It's pricy mind you: £1,700 basic, £2,800 with Braille display. That
includes the cot of Jaws of course, which goes a long way to explain
the price...
