in redhat you can set the clock using rdate
rredhat puts rdate in /usr/bin
and debian puts it in /usr/sbin
here is my debian script
You can put it in cron.daily.
I call mine
/etc/cron.daily/gettime
#!/bin/sh
/usr/sbin/rdate -s time1.unet.brandeis.edu
