You're right, I don't. If I did, I wouldn't have been using arecord to make the recording.
Besides, I don't have any of these applications, neither do I want to go out and get them for something which I don't do on a regular basis, it would just be a waist of money for something that would just gather dust on my book shelves, like a lot of other windows software I own now.

I found the signal processing menu of gramofile somewhat confusing, and it seemed to me like all it could really do is filter out pops in gramophone recordings, which isn't what I'm looking for.

I've just had a look at the ecasound site, and it does look like it can filter out sounds below a certain level.
The question is, how do I figure out the level below which sound should be filtered?
I'm not an expert on these things, so please bear with me.

Can you clarify what you mean by "adjust the voice"? Before starting to record the tape to my hd, I made a few adjustments on the tape player, which somewhat filtered out the background voice.
