sending outgoing mail

Hello.  My name is Tommy Walker.  I am quite new to linux, and am using Red 
Hat 8.  This message is being sent by way of my windows machine.  My linux 
machine receives mail with no problems.  However, sending mail is not yet 
possible.  My isp is verizon, and they require othentication.  With 
windows, eudora is used.  With linux, pine is the program of choice.  Any 
ideas as to what I should do?  Or, would anyone like more information?
