pppd refuses to start after modem handshake

Hi Igor and all.

I've been going through the messages posted while I was down in July
for a few weeks.
I didn't see a reply to this.

In your /etc/modules.conf you need to put a line like "alias
tty-ldisc-3 ppp_async", which will cause the ppp_async.o module to be
loaded.
