OT: flushing the input stream in c++

Hi all,

I realize this is somewhat off-topic for the list, so if you want to
reply privately, that is fine.

What I want to do is write afunction in c++ that will allow the user to
press enter then continue. However, I want to make sure the input
stream is clear when I print the message that says "Press enter to
continue:".

I found the flush method, but that only works for output streams. How
can I do something similar for input?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

William
