turning off the synth

Folks,
I got an internal Accent that is now an external. Yes, bought one of the
internals from Phil and it works perfectly as an external. THe only
problem I've found is that if you turn off the synth and then turn it
back on, turn Speakup back on via the insert and plus key combo, it
seems to behave very oddly. It doesn't want to read what is coming over
the port very well and acts very slugish with the review keys. Is there
a way to correct this? I was kind of hoping not to have to leave the
machine on that the card is in when its not going to be in use all the
time. I also might want to take my over-sized synth on the road and so
would want to turn it off in order to do this.
Any thoughts?
tnx
Scott
