Hi terry.
I don't know what distribution you are using, but if you can try it with DOS or
with zipspeak if you are using a regular distribution, or if it works in DOS go
into your linux system with loadlin, that might tell you something. Actually,
your problem does sound similar to what is happening to my cdrom; it also seems
to take the whole ide with it though, even though the cdrw is actually still
fully functional.
The other thing you could do is try putting in a different cdrom and see if the
problem goes away.
