interesting lilo problem after bios upgrade

Hi all,

I've upgraded my bios today (because it had some nice new features for my board that I really wanted), and have a lilo problem as a result.

First, my lilo boots off of the mbr of my boot drive. Before the bios upgrade, all of this went fine. After the bios upgrade when I would normally get the lilo prompt, my sighted friend says that I get a screen full of "400"'s which are moving across the screen. I got back into gnu/linux via my boot disk, and ran "lilo" with no errors. However, this didn't help. I then got the same thing after rebooting. I then booted via a windblows boot disk, ran "fdisk /mbr", and rebooted. Surprise, windblows loaded just fine. I got back into linux via the boot disk, ran lilo again with no errors as before, and got my screen full of 400 after rebooting.

I decided to see what liloconfig would do, so I backed up my /etc/lilo.conf and /boot/boot_message.txt, and ran lilo config. It asked me all the usual questions to which I replied, and when it was installing lilo, it came back with a lilo install error 1. I ran "lilo -t -v5" and "lilo -T geom", and they both report the same exact disk geometry. I would have also made the lilo diagnostics disk, but didn't know if it could be speakup adapted. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Greg
