Sorry I can't help you, since you're using dhcp. No, you're not missing anything, it would make sense that your machine would get it's settings from dhcp. Try netconfig first like I suggested, and select the dhcp option when you're in the section that configures your machine's ip address. You'll need to reboot after you  finish doing that. If things work, grate. If not, there is a dhcp howto which I think someone mentioned earlier. Hth.
