installing slackware 8.0 with speakup

well... I am guessing it is Linux because it sure is not windows.  The hard
drive sounds different while it is booting when I just press enter (with the
boot disk is in the drive).  The hard drive will crunch for a little while
and then stop making no more noise.  No speakup.  When I when thought he
install procedure, the cpeak_in.txt said that I need to type Linux
speakup_synth=acntpc when it came to booting the system.  During the lilo
config process, it had asked if I wanted to put lilo on a sooper block of my
hard drive or if I wanted to put lilo on a boot floppy.  I chose the floppy
option.  The system never asked me for a floppy, it kept on with eh install.
