changing to frame buffers

Hmmm... I want to configure X on my system. Last time I tried it
I ran into three obstacles (besides the access one): I did not
know the specs of my video card, I did not know the specs of my
monitor, and it told me I needed to be using frame buffers. I
have the data I need for the first two obstacles, which leaves me
with the frame buffer thing. Maybe I better look further into
that.
