Problems with AltGr on international keyboard layouts

Hi Christian:  I looked at your bug page and saw no suggestions of any
use other than commenting out the particular patch.  I did see a lot
of irate overseas users though! 'grin'

After your posting this morning I did think of a couple of ideas for
oleviating the problem though.  It will take me a few days to try it.
