Hi Debra. A mime type is basically a type of header that is sent to your
web browser. The browser, in this case Lynx, knows what that extension
that header points to. So for example, if lynx encounters a website
that gives it the mime type of audio/scpls, then it will asociate that
extension with pls which is specified in .mime.types. Lynx then looks in
.mailcap to see which program to use. If it is freeamp, it executes it.
