SLAKWARE8 ON LAPTOPS

Listers,

I have recently installed slakware8 on my laptop which used to have slakware
7.1.
With Slakware 7.1, my PCMCIA network card which uses PCNET_CS driver module
worked fine. However, with slakware8, I get a high tone bleep followed by a
low tone bleep during startup and the error claims that the driver could not
be found in /lib/modules/2.2.19/pcmcia.
I've checked the directory and the driver is certainly there.

any suggestions?
