Ok, I have things up and running:
ppp worked right out of the box or should I say install
so I have net access.

I loved debians dselect package manager, how does one add packages in redhat?
I would like to use mut for mail and news if it does news as pine speaks to much.
What games are out there to play and also I will need a nice database for address/phone numnbers and a good word processor, any suggestions?

I'm sure there are things I'm leaving out and probably got packages I can remove related to x, so if anyone wants to get me started in a direction I sure would appreciate it.

I only got a 3 gb hd and it is on my second hd hdb.
I would like to get a boot disk going and later maybe install a boot manager, but for now I'd be happy with a boot disk that I don't have to keep typing "speakup_synth=ltlk root=/dev/hdb2"

Thanks.
