CVS Results with Undefined Symbol

Oh, does this mean I should not install the base 0.10A version first?  I
thought you had to start out with a kernel that had base line speakup
patches already applied.  

Should I use the checkout script I have (dated Jan 9 2001)? or is there a
later one I should use?
