The stuff that looked like garbage is actually a perl script but quite
frankly, it looks like sloppy, badly written perl if you want my opinion.  I
am a programmer by profession and cramming several statements of code
together like that and not a stick of comments anyware!  Readability is very
important to writing good program code in any language.
