So far so good with ALSA reinstall

Hi, Friends:

Some of you may recall my adventures, a few weeks ago, with weird
performance from the sound on my IBM Thinkpad T20. ALSA was working just
fine when the unit was in its dock, but played at what sounded like
half-speed when the unit was not docked. Some wags here dubbed this the
NLS phenomen! <grin>

Well, I reinstalled ALSA. This time, I did the compiles with the machine
running on battery power. And, behold, all seems well. It played at speed
from the battery, and when I redocked it. So, perhaps there is something
to the business about Copperman Stepping technology messing with ALSA's
performance.

So, I'm crossing my fingers that it will still work OK when next I undock
and go mobile. I'll report if it doesn't.

Just thought I'd add this piece of news to the memory banks here.
