Need suggestions for debian cd.

HI guys. I'm in the process of making the different kernels for the bootable cd that I'll be comming out with soon and during the compilation of the compact kernel package  I got a kernel is too large error. This kernel has all the synthesizers supported in it so I'm not sure what I can do to shrink it some. I'm wanting to keep debian's default configuration so that it will be compatible with the official cds that are released by the debian fokes.
Heh, any suggestions?
