slackware 8.0 and ppp

did you run the snddevices shell script that comes with the alsa
drivers? it's in the alsa-driver-0.9.0beta7 directory.
also another thing you might want to look at is the isapnp side of
things. I don't know much about isapnp under linux cause I got to
frustrated with it for other reasons.
