Bug in 2.4 kernels and doubletalk-lt.

Actually I'm wondering why with the 2.4 series of kernels and the
Doubletalk external, I'm loosing the first char. Any thoughts? I can read
it, but if its just speaking, like at a login prompt, it drops off the
first char. i.e. elcome to linux 2.4.3
