Help me please!!

Hi all,
I need help desperately.  I am trying to install speakup, but am having
major problems.  The kernel that I have won't allow me to mount my floppy
drive or my first harddrive.  So, if I want to download anything and store
it on my windows drive to try and fix my speakup problems, I am stuck.  How
exactly do I get around this.  I was shown a work around earlier, but I
don't remember exactly how we did it.  Thanks in advance.
