looking for a speakup/speech dispatcher / orca expert

Make sure that pulse is in it's own environment, I can dig up a config 
that gets dropped into the user's home directory if you need it.

if it's like arch, you also need to comment all of the pulse crap out of 
a specific config file in /etc, /etc/asound.conf.
