mplayer compilation

I have mplayer.nogui on this system downloaded as a package from the 
unstable distribution after I upgraded to unstable.  I didn't find it 
earlier in stable distribution though.  Under Debian unless I have to fix 
a package I try to avoid compiling it if it's already a debian package. 
If it's not a debian package and debian has nothing to handle the task 
then either a package compilation from source or programming development 
with my own source code is in order.
