Alsa-utils configure problem

Kirk,
Thanks for the tips.  I'll do some more investigating this weekend.  I'll
also take a look at the configure script to see why it can't find the
initscr function.  Do you know how to get a listing of all the symbols
included in a library?  I'm als0o a bit confused on the differences
between the compile-time vs run-time libraries.
