Well, the only thing in my ~/.zshrc other than a PATH environment variable is setopt singlelinezle but I have no problems with Speakup on this machine, which runs an 8 -core processor, so it's probably nothing to do with threading either. Sorry I couldn't help. Sent from my popping bubble wrap
