When the vm is running, get out of the guest and in the host check to make sure that soundcard is checked in the media -> removable devices menu. This often gets unchecked for me.
It works perfectly on my windows 7 system but is not sticking on my windows 8.1 host.

To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.

Hello there
Well, what is the default for insulation when you speak up? Does it use Paul's audio? As I said, not sure what is actually being used. As this is a default insulation here. I guess where we should go is what actually got changed when the system actually does its first boot? I didn't tell you though, I've actually talk to somebody who use virtual box, and the issue apparently does not exist. So whatever it is, it is VM ware workstation specific.

>> Hello there, well, I can tell you this, you're not the only person experiencing this problem. However, I can tell you, I have experienced this exact same problem under VMware. What I can tell you is that it is definitely not related to VMware version 11, because the same exact conditions happen in VMware nine. A friend of mine told me that it may be related to how VMware workstation is handling the audio device. However, I have absolutely no way to verify this unfortunately like you, there's not a lighter side assistance near me, but, I can tell you this. The login is actually occurring without any problem. Also, we also know that the PC speaker is enabled. Because, you can press backspace, and you can tell that you are in a console log in. I also tried to install why ASR, thinking that it may be related to speak up. However, there doesn't seem to be any audio in the new VM. I can tell though that the VM actually does have a sound card, and other devices. Sorry I could not be more helpful, but just want to tell you what I am experiencing here.
