Yeah, probably the easiest thing for you to do is to build your own kernel.
I may have made a mistake in building the kernel in applying the patches
that come with the debian kernel-source package. But I've personally
used the 64 bit kernel on dozens, maybe hundreds of machines with no
problem. BI figured the 32 bit kernel would be just as good.
