Debian installation with a hardware synth for speakup

Some serial synths use their own driver in speakup but some use a driver 
written into a C module called  serialio.c. I know the doubletalk LT 
uses that driver. I don't know about the apollo. But if the apollo uses 
the generic driver, it won't work with a stock debian kernel. You have 
to recompile the kernel after fixing the bug yourself by editing the 
code in serialio.c.  I'd tell you how to do that if i remembered how. 
I'd have to google it but you can do that yourself.

I can also give you a kernel package with the bug already fixed. I 
compiled it last summer so it is a bit out of date. If I get around to 
compiling a newer kernel I'll post a link  here. But this kernel should 
be fine. Here's a link to download the kernel package:

I wouldn't normally recommend downloading kernel packages from some 
stranger and just installing them. But I am an employee of the Math
