speech-dispatcher problem

Wow, please Bohdan release it as soon as possible!

In the meantime, indeed I'd like to test the current Speechd-up on
Gentoo. For those who got it to work under Debian and Ubuntu, does it
work with Alsa or PulseAudio only? Also, is it enough to git clone the
current version and run it, or some undocumented steps are required?

Thanks,
Cleverson
