When speakup uses indexes?

 Hi all.

 Due to some reasons I decided to write speechd-up replacement totally 
 from scratch. Almost everything seems to be working, but I cannot find 
 situations, when speakup sends index command to synthesizer, and I 
 cannot test part of my program.

 Would you give me example, what should I do to get index command on 
 /dev/softsynth?
