speakup + ubuntu 10.04

 its ubuntu 9.10   but if its mudels or so, i dont want to    install 
separat moduels for pseak up if this i dificult in ubnuntu
 but can i use speakup in winux or so?
can i run serwer o all thinks whit  linux winux? the cernal is 2.6
