1. Install and configure speakup.

2. Make sure that gdm (either the gdm or gdm3 packages) is not installed, or
that its init script won't be run, e.g., chkconfig gdm3 off.

Upon boot, this should take you to a login prompt, and Speakup should start
during the boot process and read everything from there.

3. To start an X session, run startx from the shell. If Gnome is configured
properly, it and Orca should be run.
