I can confirm eSpeak problems here. I just installed Ubuntu Maverick beta, and it ships with eSpeak 1.44.04 currently. Punctuations, especially commas, seem to make the pitch go crazy, and punctuation pauses, such as for periods, seem to be of arbitrary short length or nonexistant ~Kyle.
