Accessible debian install CDs

Michael,

The accessible debian install is an interesting question.

If you have a braille display, then the regular debian install cd's will work fine (most of the time).

The installer automatically starts brltty and the installer is quite simple to use with brltty.

The only issue I have is that on my laptop, the usb drivers do not get loaded until after teh installer has started, so since I connect my braille display via usb, it doesn't work in this configuration.

Unfortunately, I cannot answer the question about the boot manager. I know that debian does use grub (and now grub2 with squeeze and sid). But as for installing it in the partition rather than the mbr I do not know.

I usually install it in the mbr and edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst file to insert beeps to let me know when I am at the boot menu so I can select between my installations.

What are the options for accessible ways of installing debian? I know 
about using GRML and using grml-debootstrap. I also have a memory that 
someone had created an accessible debian installer but I can't remember 
where to get that CD and I don't know whether it is even current. I am 
ideally looking to do the install directly on the install machine so I 
don't want options like telnet or ssh.

Also a related question, boot managers. In the past I have tended to use 
lilo and installed it in the partition (leaving the MBR alone). Ideally 
I want to continue installing the boot manager in the partition but I 
have a feeling that debian has moved to grub2 and that grub2 can only be 
installed in the MBR. What are my options?
