Anyone know how to increase the console font size

Perhaps your video mode was changed? You can get a report on the
available modes very early in the boot process. You may need sighted
assistance to access that data, though. You can add 'vga=ask' to your
boot arguments to help stop the boot at that point.
If you want more adjustment look for an old IBM set of scripts that were
called console508. The scripts in there are probably very much too old
to run today, but they may point you to some possible solutions.
