Joseph, you don't want pine since it's not open source.  You do want 
alpine and alpine-pilot and pico though.  Those are all open source which 
means if you run into a problem you'll have as good support as anyone 
else.  The alpine program and companions come from the same people who 
bought you pine in the past and it's effectively a clone of pine with 
maybe a few more new features.  hth.
