getting debian, speakup, espeakup working together?

Hi,

So here is what I have done so far:

1. installed debian lenny.
2. installed the speakup-modules-2.6.26-686 and dependent packages.
3. installed the espeakup package from the unstable repository.

Now how do I get the speakup modules to automatically load at startup?

I think I just need to add some options to the kernel line in my grub menu.lst file, but I am not exactly sure of the syntax, and haven't found it in my searching.
