Speakup in its own kernel thread?

Hi Garrett: Yes we are planning on making speakup use kernel
threading.  I am slowly trying to learn the ins and outs of it
currently.

I'm not sure why pulse-audio would be adversely affected by speakup
not being a thread however.  You should be able to adjust speakups
other variables to compensate for any latency I think.
