One of the effects that has is to break the sound system so that even 
running alsaconf generates an amixer not found error and the sound system 
is left unuseable in both text mode as well as with the X-windows 
interface.  That much Peter Youssef was able to find out for me after we 
got orca installed.  It looks nice on the screen but it's as mute as Laura 
Bridgman was while she was alive.
