speakup "remembers" old screen

Well, I must be out to lunch because although I remember a problem of
that sort a long long time ago I've not seen it recently.  If someone
will come up with a sure fire way to reproduce the condition I'll try
to fix it or at least hunt it down.  I must use my system differently
than other folks somehow.
