As these things go, it was relativly easy.
I have built gnome-speech from source and also the
gnome-speech-speech-dispatcher driver.
When running test-speech, a gnome-speech utility, speech-dispatcher showed
up as an option to sellect.
Although I have different voices in speech-dispatcher, I only could get
its default voice to work with gnome-speech.
I have done this a while back, so cannot remember if I had to do any thing
special to make gnome-speech see the new driver.
I have just changed the speech-dispatcher configuration to allow for
espeak as a voice, using the speech-dispatcher generic module.
To make Orca speak with Espeak, I just made espeak the default voice in
speech-dispatcher.
