Hi

Ummm, networkd cards and modems are assigned com ports.  Once the pcmcia drivers up and configured, the devices are seen as being on a /dev/ttySx whereas, USB com ports are seen as /dev/ttyUSBx.  Speakup communicates with with /dev/ttySx devices doesn't it?
