I agree with you on all points except for one big one.  You said that
Microsoft should include Jaws with every windows machine.   *NO! NO!
NO!* I don't do Jaws now and I'll never do Jaws either.  I personally
like Window-Eyes but why should people be "locked" to a specific screen
reader.  Yes, the Apple story is just that.  No choice.  But before
that, the only choice was Outspoken when it lasted for earlier Macs.  We
need choices but conceptually, you're right it is so unfair for Blind
people to have to pay so much more just to have it equally accessible.
That's what I like about Speakup, Emacspeak, YASR, and Gnopernicus.
They are all freely available at no extra charge.  The Windows Screen
readers are all in the near $1,000 range, if not more.
