mplayer problems under debian

Hi all.

Running debian testing, and I've had the mplayer-k6 package installed
and working just fine for a while now. About 3 weeks ago or so, I
noticed that when I did dist-upgrade, mplayer-k6 was being held
back. So, today I decided to try to fix the issue, and removed
mplayer-k6. When I tried to reinstall it, I was told that mplayer-k6
depends on mplayer. When I looked at the info for the mplayer-k6
package, I saw that it is now a dummy package, which can be safely
removed, and which is replaced by mplayer.

So, I tried to install mplayer, and got the following:

mplayer: Depends: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.10.0) but 2.8.6-1 is to be installed
Depends: libpango1.0-0 (>= 1.12.0) but 1.10.4-1 is to be installed

I checked, and was told by apt-get that libglib2.0-0 and libpango1.0-0
are the latest version, and yes, that's after doing apt-get update. I'm guessing from this that the mplayer
package is compiled for unstable, but I don't want to upgrade the
system to unstable from testing.

So now, I'm stuck without mplayer. I realize with the benefit of
hind-sight, that if I hadn't touched mplayer-k6, and just let it be
like it was, I wouldn't have opened this Pandora's box. However, now
that I have opened the Pandora's box, and also learned a lesson about
removing packages which I myself didn't place on hold, has anyone else
run into this, and does anyone have advise on what I can do to have a
mplayer package again, besides upgrading to unstable that is?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Greg
