I am not sure how well but it will work.  The synthesizer is not free, 
though.

In the kernel config, disable the feature called "Preempt the Big Kernel 
Lock".  I believe that it can be found under Processor Type and 
Features.  Don't ask me why this is the option; I have no idea.
