iptables is very powerful, but also a bit complicated and not exactly
what we would call newbee friendly. However, there are some good
tutorials on the subject. See:

That's the netfilter/iptables project homepage. I also recommend
learning a bit about TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP if you truely want to
understand and configure iptables in the best way for your system.
